Park District honors Blatner for 35 years of service
Sugar Grove—The Fox Valley District Board recently passed a resolution recognizing park facilities manager Pat Blatner for his 35 years of service to the district and its residents.
Blatner, of Sugar Grove, is retiring this spring after a career with the Park District that began in 1974 when he joined the grounds maintenance crew. He later ascended to supervisor status and oversaw numerous park and facility projects involving many of the district’s signature structures, including the Vaughan Athletic Center, Eola Community Center and renovations and expansion of the Prisco Community Center.
“Pat has devoted his professional career to parks and recreation, and our communities are better for it,†said Laurie Hoffman, director of parks, recreation and communications. “His dedication to making our parks and facilities the best they can be is a true reflection on his commitment to our residents. We will miss his great passion.â€
As park facilities manager, Blatner oversaw all building operations throughout the district, assuring mechanical operations ran smoothly at all times.
Blatner also provided operational guidance at Splash Country Water Park and Phillips Park Family Aquatic Center and was integral in the development of the Lippold Nature Center and the Waubonsie Creek greenway—an interconnected network of parks and trails spanning 232 acres in the Fox Valley Villages area that previously had no parks.
