Donate socks to injured soldiers

By on April 12, 2010

Kaneland—The Kaneland High School Partners in International Education (PIE) Club and softball team are joining together for a project to collect and donate socks for injured service people.

The KHS groups learned of Lt. Col. Samuel Aldridge, a vascular surgeon in the U.S. Air Force Reserves who is currently serving his fourth tour, operating on the front lines in Afghanistan.

According to the groups, he is in desperate need of socks for injured soldiers, who are sent from surgery to hospitals with only a sweat suit and shoes, and no socks.

Anyone interested in donating white crew socks are asked to drop them off in the Troops Collection Box outside the Kaneland High School Athletic Office.

For additional information, contact Linda Kelley in the KHS Athletic Department, at (630) 365-5100, ext. 225, or by email at linda.kelley@kaneland.org.
