Robert Alan Phelps, 80, passed away May 9, 2010, in Tulsa, Okla.
He was born on May 15, 1929, in Kaneville, the second child of Alan and Edith (Brackett) Phelps. He married Charlene Volkers on June 9, 1951, while serving with the Army Corps of Engineers and was later deployed to Kaiserslautern, Germany.
Robert went to school in Kaneville, graduating with the class of 1947.
He moved with his family to Oklahoma in 1966. Years later, he began the R.A. Phelps Equipment Co., selling and servicing heavy equipment for street sweeping and sewer cleaning. He later designed, manufactured and sold the Line King sewer root saw for commercial use.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Snyder. He is survived by his wife, Charlene; a son, Brad Phelps and his wife, Joyce Polkinghorne; a daughter, Cheryl Davidson and husband, Dale; a brother, Keith Phelps and wife, Kay, of Indianapolis; a sister, Lynette Werdin and husband, Dave, of Kaneville; and three grandchildren, Sarah and Alan Davidson, and Killian Phelps.
In honor of Robert, gifts may be made to Clarehouse of Tulsa and The American Heart Association.
Robertâ€™s funeral and burial were held in Tulsa, Okla., on May 14, 2010.
