I think that you have to focus on how your kids are doing and not on overall test scores. I don’t really care if other kids are doing well – that’s on the school and the parents. I don’t believe the community is primarily interested in winning sports teams. Move to Geneva or St. Charles if you want that but be prepared to have to buy your kid a luxury car to fit in. Those schools have their own problems. Go ahead and run for school board. We need dedicated folks who are willing to bang their heads against a brick wall, stand up to ridicule for never doing enough and make tough decisions. You can expect away but good students require good parents AND good teachers AND a state government that will fulfill its responsibilities to pay its bills.

who cares about ‘test scores’. as long as them knights go to state! remember PJ Fleck back in 99! he went to the NFL. didn’t need no education for that!

While I am repeatedly disappointed in the Kaneland School District I continue to believe the District is an accurate reflection of the community. IMO, despite the occasional outcry about quality education, in reality the community is much more interested in winning sports teams. That said, if you are an involved, invested parent, your children can receive an excellent education if you utilize outside resources in addition to Kaneland. If you think you can make a positive difference by running for the Board – go for it. I would suggest that you talk to numerous current and former Board members to make sure you understand what you would be getting into or you will likely just be frustrated if elected.
