Waubonsee Community College freshman Maxzine Rossler was named the NJCAA’s Division I Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for all games played from Sept. 13 through 19. The Hinckley-Big Rock graduate had five goals and a pair of assists in the Lady Chiefs’ two victories during the week. Rossler had two goals and two assists as Waubonsee set five school records in blasting Truman College 13-0 on Sept. 13. She followed that up by scoring a ‘hat trick’ with three goals in the Lady Chiefs’ 6-3 win over the College of DuPage on Sept. 16. Entering yesterday the Big Rock native was tied for most goals scored in the nation among NJCAA Division I players with 15 goals in 11 games played. Rossler was also second nationally in points with 34 (15 goals, 4 assists), helping lead the nationally-ranked Lady Chiefs to an 8-2-1 record overall. Waubonsee was ranked 16th in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, and is set to host 11th-ranked Schoolcraft, (Mich.) College (8-1) on Saturday, Oct. 2, beginning at noon.
