T. Robert Lawrence, 75, of North Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at home. He was born June 16, 1933, in Aurora, the son of the late Ignatius and Helen (Biro) Lawrence.
TB (as he was known to his family and friends) was a 1952 graduate of East Aurora High School. He was married to Marilyn J. Jaffke in 1957, and they spent the next 52 happy years of their lives together. TB was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by family and friends.
He served his country with the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He was employed by National Tea-A&P for 30 years as a meat cutter. TB retired in 1998 from Aurora University Maintenance Department. He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a member of the Aurora Turnerâ€™s Club, Phoenix Club, Batavia Moose Lodge and Irish Club.
TB will always be remembered for his big smile, happy ways and joke telling.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of North Aurora; two sons, Michael (Darlene) of Woodstock, Ga. and John â€œSenatorâ€ (Arlaine) of Yorkville; five grandchildren, Courtney (Nick) Miller of Pendelton, Ind., Ashley Lawrence of Somonauk, Brandon Lawrence of Aurora, Tyler and Nicole Lawrence of Woodstock, Ga.; great-granddaughter, Lillie of Pendelton, Ind.; sister, Margaret â€œTootsieâ€ (Arthur) Smith; brother-in-law, W.W. â€œJeffâ€ (Arlene) Jaffke of Rochelle; sister-in-law, Donna Jaffke of St. Charles, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Fred Sr. and Lillian Jaffke; brothers-in-law, Fred Jr. and Owen Jaffke, and sister-in-law, Sally Steib Jaffke.
Visitation was held on Friday, Feb. 20, at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove, IL 60554. Funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 21, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 85 S. Constitution Drive, Aurora, with a visitation half hour prior to services. Burial took place at Lincoln Memorial Park.
