ELBURN—St. Gall Catholic Church in Elburn recently held its annual Blessing of our Animals. More than 30 parishioners and their beloved pets attended the celebration.

The blessing typically takes place at the beginning of October, which is near the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi. St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals and the environment. St. Francis of Assisi truly loved animals and this blessing is a way celebrate the unconditional love of animals and thanking God for their presence in our lives.
