Kaneland takes 3rd in WYSE competition

Waubonsee Community College hosted the annual Illinois Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Academic Challenge Competition on Feb. 11 at its Sugar Grove campus. More than 150 students from 12 area high schools competed in seven subject areas.

Trophies were awarded to the top three teams in each division, with divisions based on enrollment. Division 1500’s top team was Yorkville High School, followed by Sandwich High School and Kaneland High School.

Mike Jenny of Kaneland earned engineering honors, while Samantha Eichelberger of Kaneland took home first-place honors in English.
