Swap Shop at Lord of Life welcomes donated items
ELBURN—Lord of Life Church, Route 38 and LaFox Road in Elburn, will host a Swap Shop from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Nov. 18.

The event is an opportunity for families to exchange gently used clothing and toys, with no money involved.

Acceptable items include gently used clothing and shoes, toys, books, puzzles, games, movies and tools. No furniture or equipment will be accepted. For more information, contact Hope Collins at ccfarms@mchsi.com.

Care4Caregivers support
group for for Nov. 20

ST. CHARLES—Hosanna! Lutheran Church will hold its monthly Care4Caregivers Support Group meeting on Saturday, Nov. 20, from noon to 1:30 p.m.

The group’s goal is to support caregivers—a family member or other individual who is an informal provider of in-home or in-community care to an older individual. Both informal conversations and presentations by professionals are offered to help caregivers better understand their role and to be mindful of their own health and care, as well as that of their care receiver.

Churches’ Turkey Drop Nov. 21 in Maple Park
MAPLE PARK—Donations of turkeys, hams and other items to complete a holiday meal for those in need will be collected from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, at Grace United Methodist Church, 506 Willow St., Maple Park.

Grace, along with St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Maple Park, will distribute the food through local food pantries to families in need this holiday season.

Suggested drop-off items are canned yams, cranberries, vegetables, instant mashed potatoes and prepared gravy.

The churches will offer coffee, hot chocolate and desserts to those who donate.

Church’s fall festival offers
food, auctions, raffles

VIRGIL—Saints Peter and Paul Church will host its Fall Festival from 3 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, at the church, 5N939 Meredith Road, Virgil.

Open to the public, the event will feature an auction, raffles, children’s games and movies, food and beverages.

Ecumenical Thanksgiving
service held Nov. 21
at Calvary Episcopal

BATAVIA—The Batavia Community Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. at Calvary Episcopal Church. 

Following the service, worshippers are invited to stay for coffee and pumpkin pie. Calvary is located at 222 S. Batavia Ave., on the corner of Route 31 and Main Street.

Thanksgiving eve worship at SG United Methodist
SUGAR GROVE—The public is invited to the Kaneland Area Thanksgiving Eve Worship on Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m. This ecumenical service will be hosted by Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, 176 Main St.,Sugar Grove.

The service will include congregations and clergy from Maple Park, Elburn, Kaneville and Sugar Grove, as well as the general public. The Thanksgiving offering will be divided between the Elburn Food Pantry and “Between Friends” Food Pantry.

Attendees also may bring a nonperishable food item to the church for local pantries. Refreshments will be provided after the service.
