Lady Knights drop contest in Morris

KANELAND—Now entering their first-ever Northern Illinois Big XII slate, contests take on the utmost importance for the Lady Knights.
The conference tilts unfortunately began with a loss on Friday in Morris, 54-48, dropping KHS to 5-5 (0-1 NIB-12). Kaneland has now lost two in a row.
With Kaneland shooting 16-for-45 from the field and 14-for-20 from the free throw line, the Lady Knights kept pace with their Redskin counterparts, but Morris weapons Laney Miller put in 21 and Alex Granger put in 20 to buoy Morris.
Andie Strang had 15 points and seven rebounds for KHS, followed by Emily Heimerdinger’s 11 points. Kelly Evers was two points and two boards away from a double-double.
KHS built a 17-15 lead after one, but Morris went on a 16-5 tear to go into halftime up 31-22.
The third quarter ended with the score 43-34 in Morris’ favor. The fourth frame saw KHS cut the deficit to just one point on three separate occasions, but Morris converted 11-of-19 foul shots in the final eight minutes.
In younger action, the sophomore crew improved to 5-0 on the young season with a 49-10 handling of the Lady Redskins. Alli Liss led the way with 13 points.
Ahead for the Lady Knights is a contest in Sycamore on Friday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m., followed by a trip to DeKalb High School on Tuesday, Dec. 14.
