Peter Paul Lorenz

Peter Paul Lorenz, 81, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at his home. He was born March 21, 1929, in Sugar Grove, the son of the late Peter John and Emma (Loeffel) Lorenz.

Paul attended Sugar Grove High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Paul was a kind, gentle man who was well thought of and liked. He was always there to help a neighbor in need when called upon. Paul had a love for animals, especially his cat, Buddy, and gardening. He was a lifelong area farmer who raised Registered Brown Swiss Cows.

Survivors include his sister, Anna “Lillian” Damon of Big Rock; niece, Carol Crane of Big Rock; niece, Sandra (Larry) Flickinger of Sugar Grove; nephew, Richard (Deb) Damon of Batavia; nephew, Michael (Deborah) Vargo of Kankakee, Ill.; niece, Nancy (Victor Gauer) Vargo of Montgomery; nephew, George “Lee” (Karen) Hohmann, Jr. of Oswego, Ill.; nephew, Bruce (Lisa) Hohmann of Batavia; many great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; and cousins, Alice Marie Ziittel and Bernice Hueter.

Paul was preceded in death by his sisters, Daisy (Steve) Vargo, Rose (George) Hohmann and Alice Lorenz; brother-in-law, Frank Damon; and nephews, Ernest Vargo, James Vargo, Gary Vargo and Bill Crane.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora, IL 60506. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 7, at 1 p.m., also at the Aurora Chapel, with Mr. Joe Dunham officiating. Interment will be at Spring Lake Cemetery.
