KANELAND—Knights Wrestling Club celebrates 25 years of dedication.

The Knights Wrestling Club is the youth (5-14 year olds) wrestling organization that is a feeder program to and operates out of Kaneland High School. This season marks their 25th year since Monty Jahns (current head coach at Kaneland High School) started the club. This year’s squad of 75 wrestlers is led by head coach Steve Kenyeri, who is in his 10th year with the club. Coach Kenyeri is assisted by 12 volunteer assistant coaches.

On Jan. 20, the club had 33 Knights participate in the Derrick Munos Invite at West Aurora High School. Knight wrestlers had a very good day on the mats with Jace Black, Zack Farris and John McCaffrey each placing 1st in their respective weight classes/divisions. Second-place honors went to Collin Gussman and Riley Vanik.

This coming weekend, the club will be sending the advanced wrestlers to a tournament in Minooka, while the newer wrestlers will compete in Mendota. The final regular season tournament will be Sunday, Feb. 13, in DeKalb, followed two-weeks later with the State Series Regional in Sycamore in February.
