Public Works employees agree to on-call policy
Elburn—Public Works employees met with village officials and agreed to amend their on-call and called-in policy. The changes made would include a holiday as part of the work week.
Currently, they receive three and two hours of overtime, respectively, for doing the morning and evening rounds. If they are called in for an emergency, such as a waste main break or de-icing, they receive two hours of overtime. If they are called in outside of normal working hours, they receive two hours of overtime regardless of the number of hours worked in that week.
They will receive premium pay of an additional hour per day for the week they are on-call, plus premium pay of 10 hours at time-and-a-half. Those who are on-call and called to return after the normal day will receive the premium of a minimum of two hours at time-and-a-half.
