Alexis Y. “Lexi” Weber, 21, of Maple Park died Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital as the result of an automobile accident.
She was born on July 3, 1989, in St. Charles, the daughter of James S. and Dawn L. (Johnson) Weber.
Lexi was a graduate of Kaneland High School, class of 2007, and was a senior at Northern Illinois University. She was in her last year of getting her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She was a student teacher for the Burlington School District and worked for the Sycamore School District in their OSCAR program.
Lexi was a volunteer for many community programs, including being one of the founding members of the Feed’em Soup organization. She was a very caring person who continued to help people by being a tissue donor.
She is survived by her father, James Weber of Cortland; her mother, Dawn Weber of Maple Park; two brothers, Will Weber of Sycamore and Mark “Jr.” Akers of Geneva; one sister, Dominique Weber of DeKalb; maternal grandparents, Gary and Rita Johnson of Maple Park; her step-mother, Janet Weber; three uncles, Rick (Paige) Johnson of Yorkville, Doug (Nicole) Johnson of Maple Park and Mike Weber of Palatine, Ill.; one aunt, Jan (Bill) Hall of Sycamore; special friend of Lexi and her mother, Jay Jacobson; and her cousins, Jay Weber, Jennifer Caravia, Jason and Tracey Hall, Gabe, Sloane, Shae, Nicholas, Evan and Olivia Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Arthur and Mary Weber.
Her funeral service will be on Friday, Feb. 25, at 8 p.m. at the Salem Lutheran Church, 1145 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, with Rev. Michael Morell officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the church.
