It is hypocrisy at its finest. It's what politicians do. They make promises and then get elected. The whole thing becomes a shell game. "How can I provide the illusion of doing something while accomplishing nothing and still keep my job and nice benefits?" This doesn't work so well for us in the private sector because employers don't want dead wood on the payroll. For some reason it works really well in government because these folks get elected and re-elected over and over. Don't look to the Republican Party to create jobs. With all the drastic cuts they want to make including cutting taxes for the rich, we'll be lucky if we don't see unemployment go up another 2-3%. Heaven help you if you have no options and all safety nets are taken away.

What a hypocrisy and waste of time. Hultgren is taking tax payer funded congressional health care plan, pension and retirement package while repealing health care and seeking major changes in Social Security and Medicare. He voted for keeping information on which members of congress are taking government funded health care plan secrete. And now propose a bill has no chance of passing but just for doing a press release to get on a news paper story. Where are the JOBS? He should at least try to pretend that he is working on something which matters.

I think everyone but members of Congress will agree that none of them should get a check if government shuts down. Not only should they not get paid - all benefits should be suspended. There should also be no retroactive pay either. I'd bet my last dollar that this bill will languish in committee and never be brought to the floor for a vote. Boehner would never accept it. He wants tax cuts for the rich and poverty for the rest of us.
