Girls track makes indoor strides on Saturday
At the Hononegah Girls Indoor Classic on Saturday, Kaneland Lady Knights track finished 21st out of 22 teams (6.5 points). Homewood-Flossmoor, with 82 points, led the charge, followed by Whitney Young at 73 points and West Aurora at 71.5.
Top finishes for the Lady Knights included a double shot in the 800-meter run, with Andie Strang and Lisa Roberson taking sixth and seventh, respectively. Strang ran the event in 2 minutes, 28.98 seconds, and Roberson ran in 2:30.91.
In the 55m high hurdles, sophomore Jessica Brinkman finished 15th in the preliminaries with a run of 10.38 seconds, just .33 away from qualifying for the finals.
For the field side, Kelly Evers finished in a tie for 15th in the high jump at four feet, four inches. The pole vault had Katie Bergman and Sara Wallace nab seventh place in the pole vault with 7-6.
Shot put also yielded some returns. Alyssa Galvan took 13th at 31-9.5, Lauren Whittaker finished 20th at 30-4.5 and Nicole Ketza took 34th at 27-11.75.
