Marjorie “Grandma Marge” Finlinson
Marjorie “Grandma Marge” Finlinson, 86, of Summerville, S.C., formerly of Elburn, passed away May 3, 2011, at her daughter and son-in-law’s home following complications from a recent stroke.
She was born in Albia, Iowa, the fourth of nine children.
She was united in marriage to Vincent Finlinson on Aug. 25, 1942. Later, they moved to Illinois in 1955, eventually buying a house on Reeder Street in Elburn, where they would spend over 20 years making the house a home and filling it with memories. Marjorie continued to live there following Vincent’s passing in 1984. She moved to Summerville, S.C., in 2008, and subsequently moved into the care of her daughter and son-in-law’s home when her health began to decline.
Marjorie was a member of the Eastern Star.
Marjorie had a way about her in the kitchen. Something magical happened when she combined chicken and noodles and her special spices. The aroma filled not only the house but your heart.
She is survived by her two daughters, Janette Johnson of Geneva and Linda (Duane) Henricksen of Summerville, S.C.; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Finlinson of Washington; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent; two sons, John Finlinson and Thomas Finlinson in infancy; one son-in-law, Richard “Dick” Johnson and Francis “Jamie” Jamison, a special family friend.
Private family services have already been held.
Memorials can be sent in her memory directly to a hospice of your choice. Arrangements were handled with care by Conley Funeral Home, (630) 365-6414.
