Cynthia S. Polfer, 54, of Big Rock, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Provena Mercy Center. She was born Jan. 8, 1957, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Joann and the late Marvin Seevers.
Cindy taught at both Immanuel Lutheran School in Waukegan, Ill., and St. John’s Lutheran School in Libertyville, Ill. Being a strong and devoted Christian, she was a faithful member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, where she was also a Sunday school teacher. Some of Cindy’s passions included knitting, sewing, needlework and music. She recently completed her degree work in fashion design at College of DuPage and had received high honors for several of her designs.
Cindy is survived by her mother, Joann Seevers-Wolfgram of Eau Claire, Wis.; her husband, Gary Polfer of Big Rock; her children, Jonathan Polfer, of Milwaukee, Wis., Brian, Daniel and Rachel Polfer, all of Big Rock; three sisters, Corrine (Dwight) Berry of Eau Claire, Wis., Shelley (Marcus) Mack of Appleton, Wis., Dawn (Virgil) Knoepke of Jim Falls, Wis. as well as several nieces and nephews.
Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Seevers; her stepfather, James Wolfgram; and a nephew, Ian Mack.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2567 W. Sullivan Road, Aurora, with Pastor Philip Schupmann officiating. Interment will be at Welsh Big Rock Cemetery. Visitation took place from 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
