Board considers change to deputy chief selection process

ELBURN—A proposed ordinance would shift the authority to appoint a deputy chief from the police board to the police chief. The deputy position would be classified as managerial and be non-union. The selection of the deputy would be from officers with five years of full-time service in the village’s department.
