ELBURN—Village officials have drafted a franchise agreement with Mediacom that will address past and future issues with the cable company. The new agreement does not restrict other cable companies from coming in during the 10-year agreement. It also offers the opportunity for a public access channel, a service that residents who responded to a survey last year say they want. The agreement allows for expansion of services as the village grows and insures enough staffing to speed up the process from the lengthy expansion in the past. It will also improve customer service standards, making them some of the toughest in the country. The board will vote on the agreement at its July 11 meeting.
