ALGONQUIN, Ill.—Kaneland soccer’s first trip to the Jacobs Invite yielded a win, but a couple more would have been ideal.
As it stood, an opening-match loss against host Jacobs on Friday and a championship loss to Harvard on Saturday sandwiched a shutout win over Crystal Lake Central on Saturday morning.
The Knights (2-2) saw their lone goal punched in by Jordan Escobedo on an Alex Gil assist seven minutes, 14 seconds into a 4-1 defeat to the Jacobs Golden Eagles. Jacobs would match KHS and score three in the second half.
In the win over CLC, Josh Williams and Escobedo would give KHS a 2-0 lead at the half, while Arsim Azemi, Escobedo and Anthony Parillo’s free kick would cinch the 5-0 win.
Against the Hornets, Azemi’s goal with Sam Rymarz’ assist with 17:39 left supplied the scoring.
Hinckley-Big Rock supplies the opposition for Kaneland on Friday, Sept. 2.
