KANELAND—For those that wish the game of soccer could use a couple more handfuls of scoring got their wish on Friday afternoon at Kaneland High School.
The Knights used a huge first half to propel themselves to a 7-4 win over the H-BR Royals.
The six-goal outburst within the first 40 minutes of play allowed Kaneland to improve to 3-2 on the young season.
Anthony Parillo kicked things off with a 35-yard free kick just six minutes, 53 seconds into the match.
Alex Gil scored on an assist from Parillo with 28:22 to go. With 20:50 remaining, Tyler Siebert began his prolific day with a goal on a Kushstrim Ismaili assist.
Jordan Escobedo put it in the net with 12:12 to go thanks to a Tyler Siebert assist.
Thanasi Pesmajoglou got in on the scoring party with an unassisted effort with 8:09 left, and H-BR put the ball in its own net just five seconds out from the break.
Alex Gil completed the scoring with 24:59 to go, helping offset the three-goal burst by the Royals.
The Knights move on to deal with Illinois Math and Science Academy in Aurora on Thursday, Sept. 8, and head to DeKalb for a matchup at the Barbs’ new grounds on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
