ELBURN—If you can’t show your talent on the home stage at Elburn Woods, when can you show it?
Kaneland’s boys cross country team finished in sixth place out of 18 teams at its Eddington Invite showcase on Saturday morning, garnering 148 points and seeing noteworthy times from the top tier.
“We had a strong effort in a talented field of teams,” KHS coach Chad Clarey said. “We have some more work to do, but we like where we are headed.”
Crystal Lake Central won the meet with 88 points, followed by Benet Academy at 106 and Jacobs at 114.
Jacobs’ entry William Hennessy was tops with a 15 minute, 47.9 second tally. Kaneland sophomore Kyle Carter ran a PR of 16:51.7.
The sophomore was pleased with the individual and team effort.
“It was a great race,” Carter said. “We all did well and stuck as a pack, which is important, and it was an overall good day.”
Carter’s fellow Knight Conor Johnson (20th place) finished the hilly course in 17:05.9. John Meisinger was close behind in 22nd at 17:08.9. Junior Brandon Huber was next for the Knights in 43rd at 17:28.4.
The Knights take on the field at the Aurora Central Catholic Invite on Saturday, Sept. 24.
