KANELAND—Under sunny skies in Sterling, Ill., a younger KHS girls cross-country lineup was trotted out to deal with the field spreading from Iowa City, Ia., to Schaumburg, Ill.
Kaneland took fifth with the freshman-sophomore group, thanks in large part to Victoria Clinton’s top finish.
Pleasant Valley High School won the F/S meet, but Kaneland’s 131-point total was good for fifth.
Clinton’s second top finish in a row saw her run at 18 minutes, 57 seconds.
Teammate Aislinn Lodwig was fourth overall at 19:34, while Sydney Strang continued to march back from injuries with a time of 20:26 (17th place). Jessica Kucera finished in 21:38, for 48th overall.
Saturday, Oct. 15, brings the litmus test of where KHS varsity fits in the conference scheme, at the Northern Illinois Big XII Conference meet hosted by Geneseo of the West Division.
A year ago, Ashley Castellanos of Kaneland made it to the all-conference team with her showing at Elburn Woods.
