Nancy M. Baum, 74, of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012. She was born on June 11, 1937, in Dog Fork, Ken., daughter of the late Raleigh and Nellie Marie Herbert.
Raised in West Virginia, she attended Mooseheart after her father passed away. While at Mooseheart she was a proud member of the drill team. Her family later moved to Sugar Grove, where she graduated from Elburn High School. She was a beautician for 30 years in Aurora, and for the last 10 years, was a teacher aid at Harter Middle School in Sugar Grove. Mom was a hard worker and truly loved working with the children at Kaneland.
Nancy is survived by her sons, Gary (Jami) Baum, Gregory (Teresa) Baum and Glen (Mindy) Baum; grandchildren, Matthew, Jonathan, Ethan, Jarod and Zachary; great-grandchildren, Michael and Connor; siblings, Karen (Tom) Silver, Sally Vilbig, Martha Vickory, Richard (Jean) Herbert and Garry Herbert.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Herbert, David Herbert and Alfred Herbert; and sister, Patricia Rediger.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove, IL 60554. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kaneland Foundation with the memo line noting that it is for the Nancy M. Baum Memorial.
