Vanik’s IKWF trip worth it

Vanik Places second in State
ROCKFORD, Ill.—This past weekend 840 wrestlers met at the BMO Harris Bank Centre in Rockford for the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation (IKWF) State Championships.

The championships were to crown a State Champion in each of 35 weight classes in two age divisions. Riley Vanik of Sugar Grove placed second in the Novice 138-pound weight class. He was joined by teammate John McCaffrey in the Novice 70-pound class, also of Sugar Grove, who finished in the top 12, falling one win short of placing.

Both are members of the Martinez Fox Valley Elite Wrestling Club who won the team championship for the Novice Division (11 and 12-year-olds). Zach Parker (Senior, 177pounds), the third wrestler from Sugar Grove and member of the Knights Wrestling Club also participated in the event.
