Elgin, Ill.—In conjunction with The American Institute of Architects, the AIA Northeast Illinois Chapter awarded $1,500 scholarships to two students pursuing architectural degrees.
Locally, Eric Blowers of Elburn is an architecture student at Judson University and expects to graduate in 2013. He would like to pursue missions-type work to provide people in developing areas with cost-effective sustainable buildings.
He enjoys studying the evolution of architectural styles in response to culture and its changing needs. Eric, however, finds “the most fruitful thing about architecture is the architect’s ability to satisfy the needs of the patron and the creative means by which he/she achieves this goal, whether the focus is on cost efficiency, sustainability, or some other significant factor.”
Eric’s academic accomplishments have placed him on the dean’s list and as a 2012 inductee in Tau Sigma Delta, the national honor society for students majoring in architecture. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Judson University chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) and is a member of the Student Sustainability Committee.
