Sugar Grove—Waubonsee Community College will host a baseball alumni game on the Chiefs’ diamond in Sugar Grove on Saturday, Sept. 22.
All former Chiefs’ baseball players are invited to participate. The day’s events will begin at 9 a.m., when the current Waubonsee team will hold an intra-squad scrimmage. Chiefs’ alumni are invited to take batting practice in Waubonsee’s outdoor hitting facility, which features two astro-turfed batting cages and multiple hitting stations, beginning at 11 a.m. The alumni game is set to start around noon, with a post-game social gathering at 3 p.m. For more information or to RSVP, contact Waubonsee head baseball coach Dave Randall at (630) 466-2527.
Baseball Skills Camp
The college will also be the host site for a Coaches/Parents Clinic and Baseball Skills Camp, presented by Perform Everyday on Saturday, Sept. 15.
The hour-long clinic will begin at 8 a.m., with the camp running from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for athletes ages 13 through 18 on the Chiefs’ Sugar Grove campus baseball field.
Coaching strategies, drills, mechanics and more will be covered during the clinic by presenter Joe Yager, owner of Perform Everyday, and former Major League Baseball (MLB) player Lou Collier.
Yager, a former Chiefs’ pitcher, elite level softball player and personal trainer, will conduct the Baseball Skills Camp along with Collier, a former Philadelphia Phillie and nine-year MLB veteran, and University of Illinois Associate Head Coach Eric Snider. Defensive infield and outfield drills, base running, throwing, pitching, and what college and professional scouts are looking for will be covered. Space is limited. Interested individuals should contact Yager at (217) 202-2521 or by email at email@example.com.
