I would like to ask the police departmentâ€¦How many cars/SUVâ€™s does the department need? How many full time and part time officers are neccessary? What is the national ratio of citizens to patrolmen?
what is Elburns ratio?
I have been in Elburn for 30 yrs. When I got here there was 1 full time police chief. After 3 pm you had to call the county. Now you have cops writing tickets for garbage cans, open garage doors, sidewalk violations etcâ€¦and we wonder why we donâ€™t money in the coffers for things like Park Districts and activities for kids. This police dept could/should be cut in half.

I agree with blackberrycitizen,
Elburn police are ridiculous. They need to stay in their own jurusdiction also. I see them come as far as Pouley Rd.to try and pull someone over.
Lighten up Elburn.! Too many officers for a small town just yet.

Maybe it’s time for a few more changes, other than Village Board President. The “resignation” process provides a method to do this.
There have been some strange happenings involving Elburn’s police
department in recent years. The current chief came from a bigger town with more activity than Elburn can offer; evidently he has had to invent “problems” to keep his men busy, such as: writing complaints about sidewalk signs advertising Paisano’s lunch specials and the Legion’s semi-annual spaghetti dinners; assigning a police officer to walk both sides of Main Street’s business district to record the length of time the three or four cars present are parked there;
writing tickets to homeowners whose cars are parked a few inches over the sidewalks no one even uses, being a few examples.
It looks like the only reason Elburn installed more sidewalks is so Chief Linane and his crew can write more tickets for parking on them.
As to the sidewalk signs: a sign 18 inches wide on a sidewalk 10 feet in width “obstructs foot traffic,” but those several 4-foot wide planters don’t???

“Just the good ol’ boys, never meaning no harm” as the song goes. What will this cost us (the city) in terms of severance, lawsuits and the like. Resign? You’d have to fire me (wouldn’t you want unemployment?)These people have done a great job and nothing wrong, you don’t even know their performance and you want them to resign? (you’re not even the Mayor yet)Yep,,,see you at the coffee shop for the next board meeting. A long 4 years, my friend.

1st step, boot out all the current heads of office and bring in friends and contributers to his campaign funds.
Elburn has made significant improvements with the current heads of office, why disrupt this?????? If you live in Elburn, you’d realize this.
