WCC demonstrates ‘beer goggles’

By on April 23, 2009

Sugar Grove Police Officer John Sizer (above) watches over Waubonsee Community College student Eneida Christner, of Oswego, as she tries to complete a field sobriety test while wearing ‘Fatal Vision Goggles.’ The goggles simulate the effects of an alcohol level twice the legal limit. The activity was sponsored by the college’s Counseling Center as part of its mental health awareness week.

As part of the school’s mental health awareness week, Waubonsee Community College counselors served students ‘mocktails’—nonalcoholic drinks—in the new Student Center on the Sugar Grove Campus. The drinks were meant to show students that there are alternatives to alcohol. Courtesy Photo
