Kaneland talent is portrayed in many ways, through the academic clubs such as Scholastic Bowl team and chess team, the sports programs, and the growing music and drama programs.
In March, the Kaneland community will be fortunate to have the opportunity to see some of Kaneland’s finest musicians and actors during the Knight of Performances Barbecue Dinner, sponsored by the Kaneland Performing Arts Boosters, on Saturday, March 9, at Harter Middle School, 1601 Esker Drive, Sugar Grove.
Beginning at 4:30 p.m., this event will showcase our talented middle and high school students on stage, where their music and acting abilities will shine. More than 50 acts, including students who are either performing a vocal or instrumental solo or ensemble; Harter Middle School performers such Mid-Knight Special, Mattina Brass and Jazz Band; and Kaneland High School performers such Jazz Combos and This Is No Act (TINA), will provide entertainment for the evening.
The event will also include a basket raffle. The Knight of Performances Committee has secured many wonderful items for the raffle, such as White Sox tickets, “Fiddler on the Roof” tickets, local restaurant and business gift certificates, wine and coffee baskets, music lessons, an autographed T-shirt from a Chicago Bear, health club memberships, Thirty-One merchandise, Polish pottery, jewelry and more.
All money raised at this event will directly benefit the students involved in the band, choir and theatre programs at KHS and KHMS. Some of the items the Boosters hope to purchase with money raised include: a handheld audio recorder for the middle school, new plumes for the marching band uniforms, chorale folio cabinets, concert tuxedos and dress for the high school choir, and a drum major podium for the marching band.
Guests will enjoy barbecue from BBQ Express in Somonauk, Ill. Dinner options include a pork chop dinner, chicken dinner, combo dinner, a pulled pork sandwich or a kid’s hot dog meal. A vegetarian option will also be available. All dinners include baked beans, coleslaw, apple sauce and a choice of homemade dessert. A dinner order form is available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling (630) 365-5272. Orders are due no later than Tuesday, Feb. 26.
Won’t you join us for a fun-filled evening? Where else can you bring your family to dine on barbecue and try your luck at winning one of the many baskets that will be raffled, all while enjoying Kaneland’s finest entertainers?
