Nancy Louise Carson
Nancy Louise Carson passed away at her Anaheim, Calif., home on Saturday, July 20, 2013, with her family by her side, from complications of lung cancer.
Nancy was born on July 1, 1935, in Aurora, to Arden and Louise Perschnick. She grew up in nearby Sugar Grove with her sister, Judy, and graduated from Elburn High School in 1953.
After graduation, Nancy worked for the Barber-Greene Company in Aurora as a secretary. She married Steve Carson on Sept. 12, 1964, and moved to Anaheim in October 1965 for Steve’s work. While maintaining a busy household and later running a small print shop in Santa Ana, Calif., the couple raised their daughters, Julie and Jean.
Nancy took a job in the California State University, Fullerton, temp pool in 1994, handling various assignments and eventually became the History Department secretary. Nancy joined Steve in retirement at the end of 2005.
Nancy was an active homemaker and gardener, an excellent cook, talented at crochet and other needlework, and an avid mystery reader (as one could attest by her 1,000-plus volume library and database). She and Steve also developed a love of horse racing and loved spending time at Santa Ana and Del Mar, Calif. Nancy never forgot her Illinois roots and shared many stories and pictures over the years, at one point gathering materials for an unpublished Perschnick family history.
Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Julie Carson of Anaheim, and Jean (Jason) O’Donnell of Beaverton, Ore. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ann (Jim) Carr, and numerous cousins and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and her husband.
