ELBURN—During the 4-H auction at Elburn Days on Sunday, 4-H families Panek and Modaff donated a hog to be auctioned off to help offset medical expenses for Maple Park native Becky Nelson, who was struck by a car in the Cayman Islands on July 1. Nelson, a life-long 4-H’er, is currently in a coma as a result of her injuries, which included severe brain trauma.

After some lively bidding on Sunday, the pig sold for $3,000 to Elburn Self Storage. Bidders such as Steven Haas, Charles Flint, Bob Ramm, Frank Engel, the Sunderlage family, Santschi Lawn and the Lenz family, also made donations to the Nelson fund.
