McDole Elementary to celebrate International Walk to School Day

By on September 29, 2013

MONTGOMERY—Kaneland McDole Elementary School will join schools from around the world in celebrating International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Approximately 600 McDole students will walk or roll to school along with parents and teachers. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. with children and parents walking from Simpson Avenue and Gordon Lane.

Walk to School Day events help raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for bicycling and walking, and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment. The events build connections between families, schools and the broader community.

This local event will be organized by McDole Elementary School and its PTO. For more information, contact Paul Mayer at (630) 897-1961, ext. 105, or Kelly DeGaetano at (630) 897-1961, ext. 153.
