KHS soccer has scoring woes
Lady Knight soccer looks to be in a scoring and losing funk, but there is still time to work out of it before the playoffs start.
In a busy week, the Lady Knights played five matches and went 0-4-1, scoring just twice in 400 minutes of play.
Kaneland soccer is now 9-8-3 (1-5 Western Sun Conference) heading into the regular season finale on Friday.
In a Western Sun Conference battle, Sycamore defeated Kaneland 3-0 on Thursday.
In the Burlington Central Tournament, played at Kaneland on Friday and Saturday due to wet field conditions in Rocket-land, the Lady Knights lost to Burlington Central 2-0, but tied Woodstock 2-2. Colleen Gebauer and Bridget Crosby found the net for Kaneland.
The Raiders defeated KHS 4-0 on Monday, and Batavia took care of Kaneland on Tuesday 3-0.
One more regular season contest is left for the Lady Knights at Yorkville on Friday, May 15.
The Class 2A Burlington Central Regional begins for KHS on Tuesday, May 19, vs. last year’s Class A runner-up Hampshire at 7 p.m.
The winner of that skirmish faces either Crystal Lake Central, Marengo or Burlington Central on Friday, May 22, at 7 p.m. in the regional title game.
In lower-class action, the frosh/soph soccer roster lost to Sycamore 7-0 to drop to 1-6 and 0-4 in the conference. The JV squad dropped a 2-1 result to the Spartans to drop to 8-2-1, with Abby Bend scoring on a feed from Judith Chavez.
