Kane County Treasurer David J. Rickert reminds senior citizens that Real Estate Tax Deferral applications are available through the Kane County Treasurerâ€™s Office.
This program permits qualified senior citizens to defer all or a portion of their real estate taxes. Once completed, these forms should be returned to the Treasurerâ€™s Office on or before March 1, 2009. To qualify, a senior citizen must:
â€¢ Be 65 years of age or older by June 1, 2009.
â€¢ Have a total household income of $50,000 or less.
â€¢Not owe any delinquent property taxes
â€¢Have homeowners insurance.
If you have a reverse mortgage, you should also submit proof that your agreement allows you to participate in the Senior Tax Deferral Program.
