Letter: A thank you to Elburn Poppy Days supporters
Thank you to everyone who supported Elburn Poppy Days held on Armed Forces Day Weekend, May 16-17. We wish to thank the volunteers that gave of their time to distribute the poppies in exchange for donations that honored those who have served and that will go to help the veterans and active-duty military.
Our thanks go to Al Anderson, John Nevenhoven, Norbert Lund, Jerry Lonigro, Rich Jackson, Kay Swift, Marleah Anderson, Robin Harley, Cara Bartel and Billy Osborne. Also a special thanks to Harley Veldhuizen for setting up a chair in memory of Carrie Petrie in front of the Kountry Kettle, where people were able to get their poppy from a basket on a chair with her photo on it and put their donation in Carrie’s jar.
In addition to the Kountry Kettle, we wish to thank the following businesses for their participation: Elburn Mobil, Elburn Post Office, Jewel/Osco, Elburn and Countryside Community Center, Amazing Grace, Schmidt’s Towne Tap, the Aurora AMVET and the Blackberry Bar and Grill.
The Poppy Committee of the American Legion Auxiliary is grateful for the help and encouragement of all that contributed this year, and hope to continue and grow this worthy program in the future.
