Turk celebrates 80th birthday

By on October 28, 2009

Joseph Turk was born on Oct. 30, 1929, in Virgil. His family will be celebrating his 80th birthday on Sunday, Nov. 1, with a private family dinner.

Throughout his 80 years in the Maple Park/Virgil/Sycamore area, he attended Maple Park schools, started and then ran the Maple Park little league for nearly 20 years, volunteered as a fireman and township commissioner, worked and owned a local grain business and building service in Virgil, organized a yearly golf tournament for more than 30 years, and raised his family of eight children, who all graduated from Kaneland High School.

In doing all of this, he touched many lives.

If anyone would like to send Joe a card to help him celebrate this birthday, his address is 633 Emmert Drive, Sycamore, IL 60178.
