MAPLE PARK—A big question concerning the future of Lady Knights softball was answered on Monday.
In an official press release from Kaneland High School, Brian Willis was introduced as the head varsity softball coach after an internal and external interview process involving other candidates.
Willis, in his ninth year at KHS, has coached various levels of boys’ soccer and boys’ basketball. He is currently the advisor of Partners in International Education Club, Model UN and assistant student council advisor.
Willis was involved in varsity softball in May once former varsity coach Dennis Hansen was suspended.
“I stepped in and helped last year and I enjoyed it. A lot of girls encouraged me to go after the job. It’s an opportunity to turn the page and have a fun and positive year,†Willis said.
Willis has been involved in various levels of community softball since 1985.
“I have a passion for softball. Work hard and good things will happen,†Willis said.
