Girls XC stopped by illness, field in Class 2A Sectional

KHS girls cross country had its season come to an end on Saturday in Belvidere.

At the 2A sectional, plagued by a broken roster and illness, Kaneland came up 17 points short for qualification for this weekend’s State race.

With 227 points, the Lady Knights finished behind Woodstock (127), Crystal Lake Central (134), St. Viator (166), St. Francis (172) and Prairie Ridge of Crystal Lake (210).

Finishing at the top of the list were siblings Kayla Beattie (18:34) and Elise Beattie (18:38).

For Kaneland, Andie Strang finished best in 28th place with a time of 20:41, while teammate Ashley Castellanos finished in 29th at 20:46.

Abby Dodis finished 47th at 21:07, followed next by Kris Bowen at 73rd (21:34).
