Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Audrey V. Ledbetter, 68, of Kaneville, passed away early Tuesday morning, Nov. 17, 2008, at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva, following a valiant battle against multiple complications.Â Â Released on the wings of her familyâ€™s prayers, she passed away peacefully to claim the promise of her Savior.
Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â She was born June 26, 1940, in Wayne County, Ill., the daughter of James Virgil and Ina Lenora (Pennington) Cook. When Audrey was just four, the family moved to the Somonauk-Earlville area, where she attended Somonauk High School.Â Â
Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â In 1957, she was united in marriage to Jessie B. Duncan, and they made their home in the Kaneland area. Audrey was blessed with three children, Patricia, Deborah and Lena. In 1984, Audrey and Jessie parted ways, and Audrey met Jerry Ledbetter. They were married on Dec. 12, 1985, and began their new life in Kaneville. They were active in the Victory Baptist Church in DeKalb and visited many shut-ins and nursing home residents. A soft-spoken woman with a deep and patient faith, Audrey ministered most as a â€œsacred confidanteâ€ who listened much but spoke little.Â
Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â She is survived by her husband, Jerry of Kaneville; two daughters, Deborah (Tim) Deutsch of Maple Park and Lena (Greg) Lamore of Elburn; one step-daughter, Beth Keener of Phoenix, Ariz.; one step-son, Jim Ledbetter of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren, Patriciaâ€™s: Jennifer (Chris) Reynolds, Joe Isham, Jaclyn Isham; Deborahâ€™s: Pamela (Travis) Jennings, Jessica Deutsch; Lenaâ€™s: Audrina, Veronica, Octavia, Christina and Loretta; one great-grandson, Chance Reynolds; and one step-grandson, Adam Keeener.
Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â She is preceded in death by her precious daughter, Patricia Ann; her parents, Virgil and Ina Cook; one brother, Elmer Cook; one sister, Stella Cook; one grandson, Michael John Deutsch; as well as her mother and father-in-law, Gerold and Loda Ledbetter.
Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Her visitation and funeral service will be Thursday, Nov. 20, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn. Friends may call from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. A brief service will be held at noon with private family interment services to follow at Kaneville Cemetery.Â The Rev.
