I'm sober as can be and I'm not worried about my health care. I have a job with good insurance. I'm worried about people like my sister who lost her job and was unemployed for two years after working 32 years. She has held a temporary job for the last 6 months with no benefits, no insurance. Now she has breast cancer. She automatically is uninsurable because if she ever gets a permanent job, she'll have a pre-existing condition. She has to liquidate her retirement to get on Medicaid so she can have surgery and get chemo. She has had her cancer for at least 2 months and probably longer. This is the kind of country we live in now. I know Republicans could care less and I'm tired of people who don't care about the tragic plight of others as long as they have what they need.

What Republicans want is only a small start to what is needed. But first they want to start with a blank slate (their words at the recent summit). Translation - THEY DON'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING but DELAY, DELAY, DELAY. When/if they regain control, they'll go back to helping themselves (revisit how pork exploded under Delay and Hastert) and friends on the backs of the middle class. They had a majority once upon a time. Not once did they do anything except jam through the prescription plan - a token which enriched drug companies. They could have addressed these other issues as well but they don't really want to. They only thing they really want is to continue to do what the insurance company lobbyists pay them to do. Look the other way.

The time for asking is over. It's time to make demands of the insurance companies and force them to do what they are supposed to. They shouldn't be money depots for CEOs who decide who gets care or not and who gets their care paid for or not. Republican politicians need to get out of bed with corporate America and serve the people.

RM what makes you think Republicans don’t want health care reform? Please see what Republicans have been asking for over the last 30 years but the Democrats will not support.
We ask that President Obama and Congressional Democrats join with Republican leaders to start over on health insurance reform.
We ask that they help craft sensible reforms designed to lower costs and expand access without violating individual rights or the integrity of the market.
We ask that they enact medical liability reform and put an end to frivolous lawsuits that drive up the cost of medicine.
We ask that they allow individuals and small businesses to pool together to purchase high-quality affordable health care coverage.
We ask that they allow Americans to shop for health care coverage from coast to coast and purchase insurance policies across state lines.
We ask that they create new incentives to save for current and future health care needs by allowing people to use their health savings accounts funds to pay premiums for high deductible health plans.
We ask that they guarantee individuals with pre-existing conditions or past illnesses access to affordable coverage through the expansion of state-based, high-risk pools, and reinsurance programs.
 Thank you for reading this.

CBTL - You assume EVERYONE in the district thinks like you. WRONG. Many of us do want healthcare reform particularly those who can't get insurance and have no options. Rather than calling false names you might look at it as Democrats - the party of trying to fix it all. Republicans have had many years to fix healthcare issues. They gave us an unfunded prescription program for seniors siding with drug companies refusing to negotiate better pricing. They have done nothing about access issues for the unemployed or underemployed. They have done nothing about the insurance industry picking who they will or will not cover and they have done nothing to expand options that would decrease prices. In short, they have totally failed. But don't forget they did cut taxes for the rich because the Treasury was so flush with cash. Doesn't everyone quit their job or ask to reduce their hours when they have no other means to pay their bills?
