Bonnie D. Holcomb, 77, of Elgin, Ill., formerly of rural Maple Park, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2010, in her home.
She was born Jan. 10, 1933, in Elgin, the daughter of Flyd and Geraldine Warren Bierman. She was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1950 and then attended Elgin Community College in the nursing program. She was a registered nurse and was employed by Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin for 20 years before retiring.
She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Elgin.
Surviving are her husband, Clayton C. Holcomb, whom she married on Sept. 21, 1952; one son, Mike Holcomb of Edwardsville, Ill.; three grandchildren, Jason, Ian (Lindiwe) Holcomb and Marissa (Joe) Austin; one great-granddaughter, Natasha; and one sister, June (Loyd) Sybert of Ft. Pierce, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Marc G. Holcomb.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 4, at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, Elgin, with the Rev. Mark Bestul officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services in the church.
