DEKALB—Northern Illinois University recently named Elburn resident and geologist Reed Scherer as one of its three 2012 Board of Trustees Professors—an honor that recognizes international prominence in research as well as excellence in all facets of teaching.

SPRINGFIELD—The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), along with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA), last week presented fluoridation awards to 432 community water systems—including Elburn and Sugar Grove—for maintaining state mandated fluoride levels every month in 2011.

ELBURN—With expenditures still outweighing income on the first draft of the 2012-13 budget, the Elburn Village Board looked for ideas of what to cut and what to keep at its meeting on Monday.

ELBURN—Based on recommendations from the Elburn Planning Commission, the Village Board on Monday approved a special use permit for 707 Herra St. to allow food processing at Units A and B.
