ELBURN—The Elburn Village Board on Monday passed a resolution to hire administrative consultant Doug Elder to fill in while Village Administrator Erin Wilrett is on maternity leave.

ELBURN—The Elburn Village Board on Monday agreed to allow a vending machine selling pop and water to be installed inside the warming station at the Elburn Metra train station.

The Friends of the Town & Country Public Library in Elburn donated $4,500 to the library at their annual membership meeting on Sept. 13. The money was raised from the Friends annual book sale held during Elburn Days.

ELBURN—Three men came together with their families on Saturday to mark a day they shared 68 years ago. The three World War II U.S. Navy veterans, stationed in the Phillippine Islands during the war, had stormed the island of Peleliu on Sept. 15, 1944.

Stoffa escorts families of fallen firefighters
ELBURN—For the fourth year in a row, retired Elburn and Countryside Firefighter Lt. Mike Stoffa will escort the family of a fallen firefighter at the National Fallen Fire Fighters Memorial weekend.

ELBURN—After hearing a final comment and letter from supporters of the Elburn Station plan, the Elburn Village Board on Tuesday voted to close the public hearing that has been open since May.

ST.CHARLES—The Friends of Jason Gould Foundation will hold its fourth annual fundraiser for leukemia and lymphoma research on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the St. Charles Moose.

ELBURN—The village of Elburn received a “clean and unqualified” rating for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2012, from its auditors, Lauterbach and Amen. That rating is the highest rating assigned.

ELBURN—The Elburn Village Board plans to adopt a resolution in support of the IL-47/I-88 full interchange that the Kane County Department of Transportation is considering.

Lions Club: a presence in the community since 1929
Elburn—The Elburn Lions Club has hosted the annual Elburn Days celebration since 1930. The first-ever Elburn Days, however, was billed as the “Elburn Road Celebration and Fall Festival,” and was held in October in honor of the last concrete being poured on the road from Elburn to Sugar Grove (Route 47).
