Knight boys make good on road trip; now 13-10

Suddenly, the Knight boys basketball team is not one opposing teams want to face.
It couldn’t have come at a better time.
With a 57-45 non-conference win at Marmion Academy in Aurora on Saturday, and a 63-54 Western Sun Conference win at Sycamore, coach Dennis Hansen’s Knights are now 13-10, having won five in a row.
KHS is now 5-7 in conference play.

Letter: Let’s get rid of Illinois tollways

As long as we are talking about raising the gas tax at the fuel pump, let’s pay a few cents more and get rid of the toll booths on Illinois’ highways. I have found that the Illinois Tollway Authority is taking us for a ride on what they think is their highway.

Letter: Teachers union should defer pay increases

I’m trying to save jobs. Twice before, I have verbally suggested that the Kaneland School Board approach the teacher’s union to ask for them to defer the pay increases granted during the last negotiations. I’m sure it did not fall upon deaf ears, but I never had the opportunity to attend a union meeting to address the issue with them.

Health Dept. looks to keep hearts healthy

Cardiovascular diseases, including heart disease and stroke, are Kane County’s—and the nation’s—number-one killer. The Kane County Health Department wants residents to know that since 1963, February has been proclaimed American Heart Month as a way to raise awareness of the battle against these diseases.

Kaneland High School will host a Spring into Spring dance on Saturday, Feb. 28. Girls ask guys or guys ask girls; it doesn’t matter. Dress like your date with matching shirts and/or complete outfits, just like at the old Sadie Hawkins-style dances. Prizes will be awarded for the best outfits.

Elburn Lions Bingo

2009 Charles Hanson, M.D. Scholarship
