Lady Knights softball wins opener

Lady Knights softball faced St. Edward of Elgin on Tuesday and began the season with a 13-5 win. Kaneland (1-0) saw two hits from Sara Rose, and a winning effort on the mound from Delani Vest (4 K’s, 1 ER).

Geological feature part of middle school’s name

The new middle school has a new name. The School Board approved “Kaneland Harter Middle School” at its meeting on Monday. It also named the north-south road that leads onto the campus, “Esker Road. ” The name refers to the esker that runs all throughout the area.

Scoping out sink holes in Heritage Hills

The Maple Park Village Board voted to take a closer look at an 18-inch pot hole at the intersection of Chester and Fabia in the Heritage Hills subdivision. Public Works Director Eric Pinion expressed concern that the leaking storm drains might cause the street to cave in if repairs are not made.

Girls track makes indoor strides on Saturday

At the Hononegah Girls Indoor Classic on Saturday, Kaneland Lady Knights track finished 21st out of 22 teams (6.5 points). Homewood-Flossmoor, with 82 points, led the charge, followed by Whitney Young at 73 points and West Aurora at 71.5.
