ELBURN—The pretrial conference in a lawsuit against the Elburn Baseball and Softball organization is set for Friday, July 9, with Kane County Circuit Court Judge Stephen Sullivan presiding.

MAPLE PARK—Many municipalities are reviewing their budgets to try to reduce costs where appropriate, and Maple Park is no exception. The village’s latest budget adjustment will be reducing its village engineering expense, if possible.

The following reports were obtained from local police departments. The individuals charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

ELBURN—A new municipal ordinance in Elburn prohibits illicit connections and discharges into the storm sewer system and allows the village to fine violators up to $750 and require them to pay all violation abatement costs.

SUGAR GROVE—The Sugar Grove Village Board on July 6 declared The Landings developer in default of an obligation under a previous agreement with the village to finish the development’s road, water and sewer improvements.

Kane County—A judge on Friday ruled that the Kane County Coroner Charles West must finance his own legal defense of charges of official misconduct.

Kane County—Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies on June 29 took a report of a threat made to an employee at the Kane County Circuit Clerk’s Office, located at 540 S. Randall Road in St Charles.

Registration for 2010 Fall softball has begun. Players are welcome from all surrounding areas. Practices will start the week of Aug. 9 with games starting Saturday, Aug. 21.
