SAINT CHARLES—Hosanna! Lutheran Church will be have Lent Worship Services beginning on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22. Services on that day will be at noon and 6:30 p.m., and will include Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes on the forehead.

KANELAND—Kaneland Baseball and Softball are the first annual Texas Hold’Em Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Elburn Community Center located at 525 Main Street.

KANE COUNTY—The draft of the Community Health Improvement Plan is now available on the Health Department’s website, www.kanehealth.com, and the department is seeking comments and feedback on the plan from the public through the month of February.

ILLINOIS—The National Public Health Information Coalition (NPHIC) announced that the Northern Illinois Public Health Consortium has been recognized in a national competition honoring excellence in public health communication.

OMAHA—Alex Staehely of Sugar Grove, a junior College of Business student at Creighton University, was named to the fall dean’s list for the 2011-12 academic year.

MADISON, WIS.—Nikki Smith, a student in the College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester of the 2011-12 academic year.

PEORIA, Ill.—Elburn residents Andrew P. Raver, Daniel J. Taylor, Haley A. Euting and Vincent J. Micek have received recognition on the dean’s list for the fall semester at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.

AMES, Iowa—Nathan Dallas Peters of Elburn was named to the Iowa State University dean’s list for the 2011 fall semester. Peters is studying aerospace engineering.

SUGAR GROVE—Mallard Point subdivision residents on Tuesday spoke during the public comment portion of the Village Board meeting, venting their frustration with the fact that the village still has not reached a deal with Rob Roy Drainage District No. 2 and three land owners to allow for the installation of a pipe—18 inches in diameter and 8,800 feet long—that would convey water from the Mallard Point and Rolling Oaks subdivisions to the Drainage District ditch located near Jericho Road and Route 30.

ELBURN—Before the Elburn Village Board can vote on the preliminary plan for Elburn Station, it needs more specifics and more discussion. The item on the agenda was tabled until later in February.
