Kaneland girls emerge victorious in triangular
by Mike Slodki
There was only one way to beat the 94-degree heat on Tuesday at Elburn Woods for Lady Knights cross country.
It was to beat West Chicago and Wheaton Academy instead.
Strong performances in the opening meet of the year led to Kaneland’s 27 points in a win over Wheaton Academy (36) and West Chicago (72).
“I thought they all did a pretty good job and was pretty impressed with how they ran,” coach Doug Ecker said.
Last year’s State representative Andi Strang led the field with a time of 16 minutes, seven seconds. Close behind was teammate Jen Holland at 16:09.
Ali Olson, in her second year of Lady Knights experience, finished sixth at 17:04. Lisa Roberson was close behind in eighth at 17:20.
Shelby Koester finished tenth overall at 17:46, while fellow Lady Knight Kelly Evers went at a 17:57 clip.
